The number of flood victims in Beijing has reached 30 people

In Beijing, as a result of flooding, a total of 30 people have died, and around 80 thousand residents were evacuated. Heavy rains and flooding have damaged roads and buildings in northern China.

According to official sources, 28 victims were confirmed in the Miyun district, and two in the Yanqing district. According to the Sinchua agency, the rains began last week and intensified on Monday, when in the northern districts of Beijing, up to 543.4 mm of precipitation fell.

The President of China, Xi Jinping, called for "comprehensive" rescue efforts and emphasized that the authorities should be prepared for "the worst scenarios." The government allocated 200 million yuan (about 28 million dollars) for recovery efforts.

Floods also caused damage to more than 130 cities, and roads were seriously damaged. In some areas, residents were found stranded, and rescue workers were working to assist them.

Experts indicate that in recent years, northern China has been facing record rainfall, which is linked to global warming. In the first half of the year, natural disasters caused economic losses of 54.11 billion yuan (7.5 billion dollars), most of which were attributed to floods.
