Har Gobind Thakralman, who received the title "King of the Hollywood Shuffle", is trying to appeal his extradition to the United States. According to authorities, he is accused of defrauding over 300 people, including actors and screenwriters, over seven years, having stolen approximately 1 million dollars.
Thakralman, a citizen of Indonesia, is accused of fraud, related to theft and serious theft of personal data. He, according to investigators, persuaded industry professionals in the entertainment industry to travel to Indonesia at his own expense for nonexistent projects, then extorted large sums from them that were never returned.
The extradition procedure began in 2022, and in June 2023, the court confirmed the decision on extradition. Thakralman filed an appeal to the High Court of London in April 2025, asserting that extradition threatens his human rights due to the risks of poor conditions in custody.
Thakralman's lawyer noted that his client, who filed a claim for asylum in Great Britain, may be at risk of violence in custody due to his sexual orientation. However, the court dismissed this appeal, indicating that the risks associated with the conditions of detention are not sufficient to transfer the case to another court.
