Support for Israeli military actions in Gaza decreases among Americans
- According to a survey, only 33% of Americans support military actions by Israel in Gaza.
- 52% of respondents have a negative opinion of Benjamin Netanyahu.
- Republicans continue to support military actions by Israel, unlike Democrats.
According to a new Gallup poll, support for Israeli military actions in Gaza among Americans has significantly decreased. Only about a third of respondents approve of these actions, which is a drop compared to the beginning of the war with Hamas, when approximately half of Americans supported Israeli operations.
The survey, conducted from July 7 to 21, 2025, showed that nearly 60% of Americans do not approve of Israeli military actions in Gaza, which has increased from 45% in September 2023. Specifically, only 8% of Democrats and 25% of independents expressed support for military actions by Israel.
Among younger people, aged up to 35 years, support for Israeli military actions is even lower – only 10% approve of them, while nearly half of those over 55 years old have a positive opinion of Israel's actions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also received a record low rating in American public opinion: 52% of respondents have a negative opinion of him, which is the highest percentage since he was included in Gallup polling in 1997.
Despite the decrease in support, Republicans remain largely in favor of Israel and Netanyahu. Approximately two-thirds of Republicans express a positive opinion of Netanyahu, while only 10% of Democrats and 20% of independents share that view.
More than half of Americans (55%) do not approve of President Donald Trump's approach to the situation in the Middle East, but his support among Republicans remains high, with 80% of Republicans approving of his actions in this context.
