During his visit to Scotland, Donald Trump met with the First Minister John Suednies. They discussed tariffs on whisky and the situation in Gaza. The meeting took place at Trump’s Balmoral estate and lasted about 15-20 minutes.
Trump mentioned that his mother, who hails from Scotland, often returned to her roots. During the opening of a new golf club, he stated that he loves Scotland.
Suednies commented on their discussions regarding tariffs on Scottish whisky, which stand at 10%. He noted that whisky can only be produced in Scotland and urged Trump to pay attention to the situation.
Trump also commented on the situation in Gaza, expressing concern and referring to the position of the Israeli government.
In addition, Trump criticized taxes on North Sea oil, calling them "nonsensical." He urged for tax reductions, which, in his opinion, could stimulate oil production.
The president also reiterated his criticism of wind turbines, describing them as "monstrous." He urged the UK government to focus on oil and gas production in the North Sea.
Trump stated that there is potential for oil production in Scotland that is worth realizing.
