The American swimmer Katie Ledecky won the gold medal in the final of the 1,500 meters freestyle at the World Swimming Championships held in Singapore on July 29, 2025. This victory marks the 22nd for Ledecky at world championships.

She finished with a time of 15:26.44, which is six seconds faster than her world record set in 2018. Ledecky started quickly, maintaining a lead of three seconds at the third distance, but in the second half of the race, the pace began to slow down.

Second place went to Italian swimmer Simona Quadarella with a time of 15:31.79, and third went to Australian Lani Pallister, who finished with a time of 15:41.18. Ledecky remains unbeaten in this distance at world championships since 2013, except for 2019 when she missed the competition due to illness.

This victory also serves as another confirmation of Ledecky's dominance in swimming, as she already has 42 medals in the Olympic Games and world championships, of which 31 are gold.

After finishing, Ledecky expressed her satisfaction with her performance, emphasizing that she loves this distance, where she set her first world record in 2013.
