The cold snap is associated with a large area of high pressure that is shifting from Canada, as well as a cold front moving southward. The first changes will be felt by residents of the northeastern United States in the middle, while the rest of the eastern regions will also gradually feel the effects. The lowest temperatures are expected on the weekends.

However, such a sudden cold snap always has its price. In this case, it is the rain and frost, which may lead to a secondary cold snap in areas that have already experienced this winter.

Weather Outlook

More than 150 million people from the central states to the northeastern coast are under the risk of a spike of 3 or 4. Temperatures in some places in the east could reach 90 degrees, while in Chicago, for example, the forecast is for temperatures below 80 degrees.

The cold snap will continue throughout the week, and the first day of September could be the coldest for parts of the Midwest, while New York will record temperatures typical for the beginning of September.
