Chancellor Friedrich Merz met with Jordanian King Abdullah II in Berlin. This meeting took place on July 29, 2025, after Merz announced plans for Germany to collaborate with Jordan to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza sector.
Merz indicated that the two A400M aircraft are ready to carry out missions from the airlifts in Gaza as early as mid-week. He emphasized that this aid could be modest, but it is an important signal of support for the region.
The Chancellor also expressed hope for further steps from Israel to alleviate the humanitarian situation, stating that nearly three-quarters of Germans believe that the government should exert more pressure on Israel to resolve the situation in Gaza.
