In the fourth stage of the Tour de France women, which runs from Samur to Poitiers, Lorenza Wibes from the SD Worx-Protime team claimed victory, surpassing Marianne Vos and Lara Gillespie. This stage was a repeat of the previous sprint, where Wibes once again proved to be faster than Vos, who retained the yellow jersey of the overall leader.
In the overall standings, Vos continues to lead, ahead of Wibes by 12 seconds, with five stages remaining. Lara Gillespie from Ireland showed her best result in the stage, finishing third. Demi Vollering, who suffered an injury in the previous stage, managed to continue the race and finished at the same time as the winner.
The next stage, which will take place in the middle of the week, will pass through mountainous terrain, which may create new opportunities for attacks.
