The Ukrainian Ambassador in Hungary Talks About Russian Disinformation
- Russia is using disinformation to deepen conflicts between Ukraine and Hungary.
- Anti-Ukrainian narratives often turn out to be false and are based on outdated data.
- The ambassador called for caution in response to disinformation.
Reports on this come from Ukrinform, Ukrayinska Pravda.
The Ukrainian ambassador in Hungary, Fedir Shandor, noted that Russia is actively spreading anti-Ukrainian narratives with the aim of escalating tensions between Ukraine and Hungary. In his interview with the agency Ukrinform, he emphasized that these informational attacks may serve not only to provoke conflicts at the political level but also in cultural and economic spheres.
Shandor pointed out that the Hungarian side often reacts emotionally to disinformation without verifying the facts. He stressed that Russia is the only side benefiting from these provocations. The ambassador cited instances where fakes, such as photos of anti-Ukrainian inscriptions, turned out to be old and false.
A member of the Hungarian parliamentary faction Fidesz, Kóshis Matej, shared photographs that confirmed the presence of anti-Ukrainian inscriptions in Ukraine. However, as it turned out, these were old photos that had no relation to current events.
Shandor also drew attention to the fact that incidents related to the arson in the church in Zakarpattia were planned provocations, as reports in Hungarian media appeared shortly after the investigation was completed.
