Lawyers for Diddy request the court to release him from custody pending sentencing

  • Lawyers for Sean Combs are requesting his release pending sentencing.
  • The lawyers propose a bail of 50 million dollars.
  • The court previously denied his release on bail.

Lawyers for Sean "Diddy" Combs have appealed to the federal court requesting his release from custody pending sentencing, which is scheduled for January 3. They assert that there are "exceptional reasons" why he should not remain behind bars.

Combs was convicted on July 2 on two counts related to human trafficking for prostitution, while he was acquitted of more serious charges involving trafficking people and conspiracy to commit racketeering.

In a letter addressed to Judge Arun Subramanian, the lawyers emphasized that Combs' case is unique, as no other individual has been convicted for similar actions related to "swingers." They propose releasing him on bail of $50 million and allowing him to reside in his home in Miami, with travel restrictions limited to southern Florida and New York for meetings with his lawyers.

Prior to the bail proposal, Judge Subramanian had previously denied the release on bail, stating that the law under which Combs was convicted provides for detention without bail.

Combs has spent more than 10 months in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in August 2024. The lawyers initially sought to have him released earlier, but later withdrew from those requests.
