Radiation Levels in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine Confirmed to be Stable

  • The radiation level in Zaporizhzhia remains normal at 0.14 µSv/h.
  • Monitoring of the situation in the region continues without changes.
  • Smoke from a fire at the AEC has not posed a threat.

This is reported by Ukrinform, RBC Ukraine.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has refuted information about increased radiation levels in Zaporizhzhia. According to the ministry's data, measurements taken at 21:20 showed that the radiation background is 0.14 µSv/h, which is within normal limits.

Earlier, on July 29, some media reported that there had been a recorded increase in radiation levels in the region, linked to wind blowing from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is temporarily under the control of Russian forces. However, the Ministry of Energy confirmed that the radiation background remains stable and does not pose a threat to the population.

It is also noted that monitoring of the radiation situation in the region continues. Recently, smoke was observed near the Zaporizhzhia NPP, but the Ministry of Energy clarified that this occurred due to a forest fire, which does not pose a threat to nuclear safety.
