This incident occurred in the team meeting room last week, and the teammate did not agree to the injury, which prompted an internal investigation from the coaching staff.

Wilkins, who signed a four-year contract worth $110 million in March 2024, was released from the team due to issues with rehabilitation after his injury. After the team decided that he needed to undergo additional surgery, he declined, which led to a conflict between him and the team's management.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Raiders announced their decision. "This decision was made in the interests of the organization, as there was not a clear program for Wilkins' return to play," the statement noted. Wilkins filed a grievance against the team over the termination of his contract guarantees, losing nearly $35 million.
