- Trump spent a significant portion of his presidency at his own properties.
- Utilizing the branded golf cart became a new security measure.
- Trump's visit to Scotland sparked concern among local residents.
During his recent visit to Scotland, Donald Trump spent most of his time at his golf courses and hotels. This became routine for the president, who, according to Forbes, spent nearly a third of his second term at his own properties.
Out of 191 days spent in office, Trump spent 75 days at his own businesses in various states, including Florida, New Jersey, Virginia, Nevada, and Scotland. More than half of those days (45) were dedicated to golf, which accounts for nearly 23% of his second term.
During his visit to Scotland, Trump opened a new golf course at his resort in Menie, Aberdeenshire, and played in the final round before returning to Washington. It is known that his visit will be subject to Scottish tax bills in the millions of dollars for security.
On these weekends, Trump also utilized a personal branded golf cart, famously known as "Golf Force One," which he drove while playing golf in Scotland. This cart is part of the presidential fleet, and according to a spokesperson for the White House, its usage was not precluded.
Additional security measures became necessary following the incident involving Trump that occurred in the summer of 2024. After these incidents, the president increased the number of security personnel and began appearing with a more robust security detail.
