On Sunday, July 29, in Tampa, Florida, the temperature reached 100°F (37.8°C), which set a new record for the region, the previous record was 99°F (37.2°C) in June 2020. On Monday, July 30, at LaGuardia Airport in New York City, a temperature of 100°F (37.7°C) was also recorded.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul urged residents to check on their neighbors, especially those who are vulnerable, noting that the heat is a leading cause of death from extreme weather conditions in the state. In New York City, extended hours for cooling centers have been established to assist residents.

It is expected that the heat will peak in the middle of the week, and meteorologists warn of dangerous temperature indices that could reach 110°F (43°C) in some areas. In the middle, they predict rains that could help alleviate the situation.
