Musetti defeated Australian qualifier James Duckworth with a score of 7-5, 6-1, while Rune overcame Dutchman Mpetshi Pervikardo with a score of 7-6 (7), 6-3 on a spectacular, sunny day.

All seeded players had a first-round bye in this Masters 1000 tournament. The best players, such as Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Jack Draper, and Novak Djokovic, are skipping this tournament on hard courts.
