Vancouver signs contract with Thomas Müller after agreement with Cincinnati

  • Vancouver Whitecaps have acquired the rights to Thomas Müller from FC Cincinnati.
  • Müller will sign a contract without a designated player spot for the 2025 season.
  • Whitecaps aim to achieve success in the League after reaching the final of the CONCACAF Champions League.

This is reported by ESPN, L'Équipe.

Vancouver Whitecaps and FC Cincinnati have agreed on the transfer of rights to open a contract with Thomas Müller. According to the terms of the agreement, Whitecaps will receive the rights to the player in exchange for up to $400,000 in total allocated funds.

This agreement is an important step in Whitecaps' efforts to sign a 35-year-old player. It is expected that the contract with Müller will not require the allocation of a designated player spot for the 2025 season, but will become such in 2026.

Müller, who previously played for Bayern Munich, stated that the club has decided not to extend his contract after 17 years with the team. During this time he played 756 matches and scored 250 goals, helping the club win 13 Bundesliga titles.

Before signing a contract with Whitecaps, Müller turned down a proposal from Cincinnati, but is now ready to join the Canadian club. Whitecaps recently reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions League, but lost to the Mexican club Cruz Azul.
