Russian missiles struck a training unit of Ukraine

  • Three servicemen were killed, 18 wounded
  • An investigation into the reasons for the attack is underway
  • This is already the third missile strike on a training unit

On July 29, Russian forces carried out a missile strike on the training unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As a result of the attack, three servicemen were killed, and another 18 were wounded.

In the statement, the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicate that, despite the ongoing defensive measures, they were unable to prevent casualties among personnel. As of 21:30, three individuals had been killed, and 18 had been wounded. Relevant services are working at the site of the incident, and necessary medical assistance is being provided.

The military prosecutor's office of Ukraine has begun investigating the reasons and circumstances of the incident. If it is established that the deaths and injuries of servicemen were the consequences of actions or negligence of officials, they will be held accountable.

This is already the third missile strike on the Ukrainian training unit in the last two months. Earlier, on June 1, during an attack by Russian forces, at least 12 individuals were killed, and more than 60 were wounded.

The commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykhailo Drahpatyi, stated in a briefing following the recent tragedy that the full responsibility for ensuring the execution of their orders lies with the command. Subsequently, he remained in service, while the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, appointed him commander of the Joint Forces.
