It is noted that in recent months, the number of migrants reaching Crete has increased more than threefold.

Currently, in the United Kingdom, Home Secretary Keir Starmer has announced an agreement with France aimed at combating organized criminal groups that engage in the trafficking of migrants. This agreement has also drawn criticism from human rights advocates, who assert that it will not stop attempts by people to cross La-Manche. Both countries are introducing stringent measures that, according to experts, will not achieve the desired result.

In Greece, new laws have already led to the detention of individuals who fled the war in Sudan, without the possibility of applying for asylum. At the same time, in Germany and other countries, there is a noticeable increase in populist sentiments that contribute to even stricter measures against migrants. Human rights advocates express concern that such policies could lead to serious violations of human rights.

Earlier, European countries were eager to integrate and cooperate on migration issues, but now there is a noticeable reversal process that may undermine the foundations of the European idea.
