French Albanese describes the consequences of US sanctions for Israel

French Albanese, an independent UN expert and critic of Israeli politics in Gaza, reported that the sanctions imposed on her administration by Trump seriously affect her life and work. She is a special rapporteur of the UN on human rights for the Western Balkans and Gaza and is engaged in investigating human rights violations in the Palestinian territories.

Albanese noted that the sanctions hinder her financial relations with American banks. She added that her daughter is American, which additionally complicates her situation.

Regardless of the sanctions, Albanese continues her work and does not change her views. In July, she published a report in which she described how the Israeli occupation has turned into an "economic genocide." In the report, she called for sanctions against Israel and the prosecution of individuals responsible for these crimes.

She also noted that in Europe and other regions, there is an increasing awareness of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, especially after the publication of images of starving children and reports of deaths from hunger.

The conflict has been ongoing since July 7, 2023, when Hamas militants launched an attack on Israel. Since then, over 60,000 Palestinians have died in response to Israeli strikes, according to data from the Gaza health ministry.

In connection with this, the United Nations organization reported widespread hunger and a lack of medical care in Gaza, where more than 2.3 million residents have become refugees.
