The explosion at the firework factory in central Thailand took place on July 30, 2025, claiming the lives of nine people. The incident occurred in the province of Suphanburi, approximately 95 kilometers northwest of Bangkok, in an area known for its rice production.
According to information from the Samerkun Foundation in Suphanburi, nine individuals were killed, two were hospitalized in serious condition. The department connected with the local government also reported on one other injured. The number of missing persons is currently unknown.
Senior police sergeant Pinyo Chamnani stated that the explosion occurred in a building that was used for the production of fireworks, but it is unclear whether it was licensed for this purpose. In video and photographs from the scene, the remains of wooden buildings can be seen against the backdrop of green rice fields.
A similar incident in this area occurred in January 2024, when nearly 20 people were killed. In July 2023, a major explosion at a firework warehouse in southern Thailand claimed the lives of at least 10 people, and more than 100 were injured, according to information from officials.
