Accusations Against Members of Parliament of Ukraine from 2016 to 2025

  • 71 deputies received notifications about suspicion since 2016
  • Some deputies demand guarantees of non-recurrence of investigations
  • Anti-corruption agencies confirm their independence

This was reported by Interfax Ukraine, Ukrayinska Pravda.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) reports that from 2016 to 2025, 71 current and former members of parliament received notifications about suspicion in criminal proceedings, of which 42 occurred during the period from 2022 to 2025.

According to NABU data, 31 of these deputies are members of the ninth convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The main types of corrupt offenses for which deputies have been accused include: illicit enrichment (Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) – 17 cases; receiving improper benefits (Article 368) – 4 cases; abuse of office (Article 364) – 14 cases; submitting false declarations (Article 366-2) – 15 cases; illegal enrichment (Article 368-5) – 3 cases.

Unlike some deputies who voted for the draft law №12414, which undermines the independence of anti-corruption agencies, they demand guarantees from the authorities that they will not be prosecuted after the restoration of NABU's independence and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP).

Sources in law enforcement agencies report that no less than six deputies from the "Servant of the People" party may be implicated in accusations of illegal enrichment and submitting false declarations. These cases were ready for voting and now seem even more likely.

Representatives of anti-corruption institutions in Ukraine emphasize that they do not engage in "political persecution" and always operate based on principles that guarantee their integrity.
