Start of natural gas supply from Azerbaijan to Syria

• Turkish start of gas supply on September 2.

The Turkish start of supplying natural gas from Azerbaijan to Syria begins on September 2, reported the Turkish Minister of Energy Alparslan Bayraktar. The gas will be supplied through the Kilis pipeline.

It is expected that the first batch of about 6 million cubic meters of gas will allow the production of approximately 1,200 megawatts of electricity. This supply will help increase the availability of electricity in Syria from three to four hours a day.

The project is financed by Qatar, and the ceremonial event with the participation of the ministers of Turkey, Syria, and Qatar will take place in Kilis on September 2. Earlier, Turkey was an active participant in the uprising, but now it supports the new Syrian regime for stabilization and the restoration of the country.
