European countries are appealing to the European Union with a request to provide tens of billions of euros in the form of financing for the purchase and modernization of Ukraine's armed forces. This was reported from a statement by Politico.

Countries such as Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, Finland, Hungary, and Lithuania have officially expressed a desire to raise a new financing scheme of €150 billion, proposed by the Commission in Brussels. This funding is planned to be used to support Ukraine in countering Russia's ongoing invasion.

According to the information, the financing is expected to cover a 45-year period with a reduction of up to 15%. Currently, countries with high borrowing levels, such as Austria and Italy, are showing caution regarding the possibility of financing.

Germany also plans to increase its military aid to Ukraine from €8.3 billion to €9 billion this year, including investments in cybersecurity and protection against diverse threats. German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine and strengthening the country's defense capabilities.

In addition, Germany intends to increase the number of its armed forces by 10,000 personnel, which is part of its commitment to meet NATO's defense requirements.
