Arab states condemn Hamas for disbandment

  • Arab states have signed a declaration against Hamas.
  • Possible annexation of parts of Gaza for the sake of Hamas.
  • The international community is concerned about the humanitarian situation in the region.

This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Asharq Al-Awsat.

Arab countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, have signed a declaration condemning the disbandment of Hamas and the cessation of its rule in Gaza. This document was adopted at a UN conference dedicated to the response process for the establishment of two states — Israel and Palestine.

The declaration states that after the end of the war in Gaza, Hamas should transfer power and disband the Palestinian administration with the support of the international community. This, according to the authors of the document, corresponds to the goal of creating a sovereign and independent Palestine.

French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian called this declaration "historic and unprecedented," emphasizing that Arab countries have publicly condemned Hamas for the first time. The declaration also opens the possibility for the resumption of international efforts to stabilize Gaza after the end of hostilities.

Currently, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant hinted at the possibility of annexing parts of Gaza to weaken Hamas. He stated that Israelis could offer Hamas an ultimatum for reaching an agreement; otherwise, they could expand military operations.

Simultaneously, the international community expresses concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, where an increase in cases of hunger is being observed.
