Viktor Orban respects Zelenskyy, but criticizes his decisions

- Relations between Ukraine and Hungary remain strained
- Hungary blocks negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU
This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Ukrayinska Pravda.
Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban stated that he respects the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but believes that he has made incorrect decisions regarding the war with Russia. Orban made these comments in an interview with the Polish television channel wPolsce24.
Orban emphasized that the principle of respect is important in international relations, and this also applies to Ukraine and its president. "Zelenskyy is the President of Ukraine, elected by Ukrainians. I always strive to behave accordingly, which is necessary for good relations. Therefore, I respect President Zelenskyy, but I believe that he has made questionable decisions," noted the Hungarian Prime Minister.
One of the questionable decisions he considers is Zelenskyy's refusal of the proposal for peace with Russia made last year. "He rejected my opinion that time is on Russia's side, but today we see that this is happening. The situation of President Zelenskyy is not easy. It is very difficult to unite the nation during a relentless war," added Orban.
Problems in relations between Ukraine and Hungary
Relations between Kyiv and Budapest remain strained, despite the Hungarian Prime Minister's statements. In Hungary, propagandistic materials are widespread that discredit Zelenskyy and link him to the Hungarian opposition. Ukraine accuses Hungary of interfering in its internal affairs.
