GM announces new Chevrolet Bolt with improved charging

  • The Chevrolet Bolt receives faster charging with the new NACS port.
  • The new model range will include variants at different price points.
  • Improved range is ensured due to the new battery.

This was reported by The Verge, Jalopnik.

The General Motors company has shared new details about the upcoming Chevrolet Bolt, which is planned for release in 2026. At an investor event, GM President Mark Royce noted that the new Bolt will charge faster than the previous version, although specific data on charging speed has not been disclosed.

Previously, the company announced a halt in Bolt production, but later confirmed its revival as an electric vehicle on the Ultium platform. According to Royce's estimates, the new Bolt will cost three times more than the Bolt EUV, which starts at a price of $28,795. He also added that the new Bolt will become part of a family of seven models, including a variant at a lower price point.

Along with the new data, the upcoming Bolt will feature the new NACS port, allowing users to utilize faster charging. The maximum charging speed of the Bolt will be 54 kW, which is considered insufficiently fast. It is expected that the new Bolt will be able to charge at speeds up to 150 kW.

Chevrolet also indicated that the new Bolt will be equipped with a new battery, allowing for improved range, which is currently set at 247 miles. This is important, as consumers often demand electric vehicles with a range of at least 300 miles.
