- Qirat won the Sussex Stakes at odds of 150-1
- The race had a prize pool of 1 million pounds
- Field Of Gold finished only fourth
The horse Qirat stunned everyone, becoming the winner of the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood with odds of 150-1. He was trained by Ralph Beckett and initially ran as a pacemaker for the favorite with odds of 1-3, namely Field Of Gold.
At the start of the race, Qirat took the lead, but was soon joined by Serengeti, trained by Aidan O'Brien. However, Qirat surged ahead again and finished first, beating Rosallion by a nose.
This victory became the biggest in terms of odds in British horse racing at the level of Group One, only Sole Power had won at such high odds in 2010.
Qirat was added to the list of participants just before the race to ensure that Field Of Gold had good competition. Jockey Richard Kingscote noted that the horse felt good on the track, and trainer Beckett confirmed that Qirat is a specialist at Goodwood.
In the race, which had a prize pool of 1 million pounds, third place was taken by Henri Matisse, while the favorite Field Of Gold finished fourth.
