Suspension of all football operations in Morecambe
- Morecambe has suspended all football operations due to financial problems.
- Panjab Warriors have announced they are finalizing the sale of the club.
- The club has debts totaling over 316 thousand pounds sterling.
Morecambe, a football club that is experiencing a crisis, has suspended all operations with the first team due to financial difficulties. The club was suspended from the National League on July 30, 2025, as owner Jason Whittingham did not provide information regarding the fulfillment of financial obligations for the 2025-26 season.
The investment company Panjab Warriors, which intends to acquire the club, has confirmed its readiness to finalize the deal. However, the deal has not yet been finalized, and Panjab Warriors have called on potential owners to finalize the sale.
In a joint statement, which was made public by Panjab Warriors, minority shareholders, Shrimps Trust and local MP Lidsy Collinge, it was stated that due to unpaid insurance contributions all football operations are suspended. This led to the fact that more investors pulled out of the club, and it is expected that even more investors will leave the team by the end of this week.
They also noted that the club's debts have increased to over 316 thousand pounds sterling, and the Bond Group has finalized the sale of the club to avoid further financial difficulties.
