Launch a new system for processing medical data of Americans
- Trump announces a new system for processing medical data
- More than 60 companies will participate in the initiative
- The recording of medical records confidentiality is increasing
Washington — The Trump administration announced a new initiative that will allow millions of Americans to upload their medical records and health data to new applications being developed by private technology companies. This will generally facilitate access to medical data and monitor health status.
At a meeting in the White House, which will involve more than 60 companies, including Google and Amazon, they will discuss the so-called "digital ecosystem for health care." The main focus will be on diabetes management, weight control, and the use of artificial intelligence to assist patients.
However, the initiative raises concerns regarding confidentiality, as previous government actions have already raised questions about the security of medical data. Experts in health care point to ethical and legal issues associated with the potential misuse of personal medical data.
Representatives of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) assert that patients will be able to access their medical data more easily, and this data will be stored securely. CMS also recommends a list of applications developed for managing chronic conditions.
Critics point out that the lack of regulation in this area could lead to unsafe use of sensitive health data. Previous attempts to improve access to medical records faced difficulties due to technical and legal issues.
