Trump Changes Rules Regarding Sanctions Against Russia
- Senator Graham emphasized the change in the rules regarding sanctions against Russia.
- Trump shortened the deadline for Putin to August 8 due to a loss of patience.
- The Kremlin continues the war, disregarding U.S. ultimatums.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham urged Russia to clarify whether the countries they purchase oil and gas from share their views on sanctions. Graham noted that Russia has learned to live with sanctions, but the situation is now changing.
He emphasized that President Trump "changes the rules of the game" and plans to impose tariffs on countries that support the Russian economy. "You should talk to these countries to find out if they also share the same position as you," Graham added.
According to expert Valeriy Klochok, Trump shortened the deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin due to a loss of patience. In his opinion, the new deadline of August 8 indicates that stakes in this game are rising.
Klochok also noted that Trump has numerous tools for pressure, including an agreement with the European Union, which could be a significant lever. Possible actions from Trump could include sanctions packages against China, as well as tariffs on goods from India, which also has ties to Russia.
The Kremlin, in turn, has indicated that it will continue the war, disregarding U.S. ultimatums. Russian officials have begun to hint at the possibility of withdrawing from the treaty on the short-term nuclear arms agreement New START, which points to a growing panic in the Kremlin.
