The Use of Artificial Intelligence in the USA is Growing, but It Raises Concerns About Trust
- 60% of adult Americans use AI for information searches
- Only 37% of Americans use AI for work tasks
- Distrust in AI is increasing among developers and users
This is reported by Ars Technica, CNET, ZDNet.
Research conducted by AP-NORC showed that 60% of adult Americans have used artificial intelligence (AI) for information searches, while only 37% have applied it for work tasks. Younger Americans are actively implementing AI in their activities: 74% of individuals under 30 use it for information searches, and 62% for generating ideas.
Despite the widespread adoption of technology, most Americans remain cautious about using AI. For instance, 26% of respondents reported using AI for shopping, while there is also some skepticism regarding its capabilities. Only 60% of developers expressed a positive attitude toward AI, and 46% showed active distrust in its results.
Additionally, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, emphasized that users should not rely on chatbots for therapy, as there are no guarantees of confidentiality. Many users prefer to use chatbots to discuss personal problems, but Altman stresses the need for legal protections for such communications.
As a result, despite the increasing use of AI, its distrust remains a serious problem, particularly in the context of privacy and the quality of advice provided by artificial intelligence.
