Dropbox warns its users about the closure of the password management function. All stored passwords will be deleted on January 28, 2025. This step is part of a change in the company’s strategy, which plans to focus on the development of other core product functions.

From January 28, 2025, users will only be able to view their passwords in the mobile app and the expanded browser, but will not be able to add new passwords. The auto-fill function will also be disabled from that date. On January 11, 2025, the mobile app for passwords will stop working, although information can still be accessed via the browser.

Dropbox advises users to transfer their passwords to other password managers, such as 1Password, which is their recommended alternative. There are also other options, such as Apple Passwords and Bitwarden. Users are encouraged to act quickly and not delay transferring their passwords until the last moment.
