Secretary of the Army withdrew the proposal for work for former official Biden
- The Secretary of the Army of the USA has withdrawn the proposal for the work of Jen Easterly.
- The decision was made under pressure from the radical activist group Lori Lumear.
- The Pentagon plans to review the practices of hiring in military academies.
On July 30, 2025, New York — Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll indicated to the Academy of the Army of the USA in West Point that he would withdraw the proposal for the work of Jen Easterly, the former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), who held this position during President Joe Biden's administration. This move came after pressure from the radical activist group Lori Lumear, which accused Easterly of being a "leftover from Biden" and called for a reduction in the influx of such individuals into the Department of Defense.
Recently, Easterly was appointed a new visiting professor of social sciences at West Point. Her appointment was announced simultaneously on posts on platforms X and LinkedIn, which were subsequently deleted. Lumear reacted to this, accusing Easterly in the censorship of Trump-era publications during her work at CISA, where she was engaged in combating disinformation.
In his statement, Driscoll also highlighted the issue of preventing the involvement of irregular organizations in the selection of personnel for the Academy and about the conducted term review of hiring practices. He emphasized that this is necessary for preparing future officers for the current challenges on the battlefield.
Press Secretary of the Pentagon Shawn Parnele emphasized that the goal is not to transform the cadets into activists of the censorship, but to prepare them for roles as warriors and leaders. He also pointed out that the latest decisions of the Pentagon indicate a political influence on military academies in the USA.
Earlier, Easterly had banned accusations in the censorship, asserting that such claims are baseless. Her designation and the subsequent withdrawal of the proposal garnered significant attention in the media and among political activists.
