Verdict on former contractor who murdered his girlfriend

On July 30, 2025, the jury in Colorado announced the verdict in the case of James Craig, a former contractor, who was accused of murdering his girlfriend Adjanna, killing her over a period of 10 days. For 10 days, he did not stop adding to her injuries.

During the closed hearings, prosecutor Michael Mauro emphasized that Craig, 47, devised a plan to kill his girlfriend, who passed away on March 18, 2023. Adjanna Craig, 43, was hospitalized three times in 10 days due to serious head injuries, bruising, and swelling. Tests showed that lethal doses of cyanide and tetrahydrozoline were found in her system, which can be found in over-the-counter eye drops.

The prosecution stated that Craig ordered the substance online and intended to make it look like a suicide. The defense attorney argued that there is no compelling evidence of his guilt and that Adjanna could have committed suicide through his means.

During the two-day trial, 48 witnesses were heard, and evidence was also presented that Craig searched for information on how to murder on the Internet. He also intended to plan a crime involving murder by poisoning, including other falsified evidence.

Craig did not testify during the proceedings, nor did his attorneys call witnesses. The last word was left to the prosecutor: "This is not a person who wants to separate; he wants to kill his girlfriend."

Craig can now receive a life sentence without the possibility of conditional release.
