Microsoft Reports Increase in Revenue from Cloud Technologies
- Revenue growth for Microsoft from cloud services reached $75 billion.
- The company's net income increased by 24% compared to last year.
- Microsoft announced a reduction of staff by 6,000 people.
On July 30, 2025, Microsoft announced an increase in annual revenue from its cloud platform Azure to $75 billion, which is 34% higher compared to last year.
Financial results for the fourth quarter showed that the company's total revenue reached $76.4 billion, which is 18% higher compared to the same period last year. Earnings per share stood at $3.65, exceeding analysts' forecasts.
These results indicate an increase in demand for cloud services and artificial intelligence. Microsoft also announced plans to invest $80 billion in artificial intelligence centers in the 2025 financial year.
However, despite the successes, the company reduced its staff, laying off nearly 6,000 employees, which constitutes 3% of the total workforce. General Director Satya Nadella noted that these layoffs were a difficult step, but necessary for the company to adapt to new conditions.
Microsoft's shares fell by 7% in the after-hours trading period following the announcement of the financial results.
