The Opra Uynfri Did Not Block Access to the Private Road During Evacuation

After a powerful earthquake of magnitude 8.8, which occurred near the Russian peninsula, warnings about prices were announced in the Gavaihs. Although threats were already made on July 30, social media continued to spread reports that the Opra Uynfri had blocked access to the private road, which allowed residents to evacuate faster.

However, as it turned out, this road does not belong to Uynfri. It is part of the Kealakepu road, which belongs to the ranch of Haleakala. A representative of the ranch reported that Uynfri has an easement agreement that allows it to use and improve this road.

After the announcement of the previous warning about prices, the ranch of Haleakala was connected with local services to open the road for the community. The road became accessible for evacuation around 5:00 PM, and earlier it was possible to evacuate 150-200 vehicles by 7:00 PM.

In a statement from the Uynfri representative, it was noted that as soon as they became aware of the previous warning, they connected with local law enforcement agencies and FEMA to ensure the road's opening. "All other notifications are hybrid," the representative stated.

As of 7 PM, as reported by the officials of the Mauyi district, the road was accessible to the public, and subsequent evacuations were not necessary, as there was no traffic on the six.

The situation after the earthquake and prices caused a panic among the residents of Gavaihs, who express dissatisfaction with the lack of access to the large plots of land owned by entities like Uynfri. This issue has become particularly relevant after the devastating forest fires in Lahaina in 2023, when many people lost their homes.
