ICE Launches Recruitment Campaign with Bonuses

  • ICE is launching a campaign to recruit new employees with bonuses
  • Bonuses of up to $50,000 for signing a contract are offered
  • The campaign is funded entirely by the U.S. budget

Washington - The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has started a new campaign to recruit personnel to attract new employees for the execution of deportation obligations. This initiative has become possible thanks to significant funding that was allocated by Congress. In total, President Donald Trump signed a bill that provides nearly $170 billion for border security and immigration enforcement.

The campaign, titled "Protecting the Fatherland," includes promotional materials that depict "brave and heroic Americans" related to ICE. As part of the campaign, signing bonuses of up to $50,000 are offered, as well as opportunities for the payment or forgiveness of student loans. The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen, emphasized the importance of new personnel resources in connection with the need to achieve the agency's goal of deporting one million individuals per year.

ICE plans to hire 10,000 new employees, including officers from the deportation unit, who will be responsible for the search and removal of individuals who do not have the right to remain in the U.S. However, experts express concern about the potential consequences of rapidly increasing the workforce, as this could lead to a lowering of recruitment and training standards.

The campaign also includes the dissemination of information at job fairs, in colleges, and among legal aid organizations. It is expected that this will attract attention to careers in federal law enforcement, which includes service to the public safety sector.
