Update iOS 18.6 and Beta Version iOS 26 for iPhone
- The update iOS 18.6 includes fixes for security vulnerabilities and bugs.
- The beta version iOS 26 is available with new features and design.
- iOS 26 will be released in early 2025 for new iPhone models.
The update iOS 18.6 brings several fixes for security vulnerabilities and one significant fix for a bug in the Photos app that affected the sharing of memory files. This is likely the last update for iOS 18 before the release of iOS 26 in early 2025.
The update is available for all iPhone models, starting with the iPhone XS, XS Plus, and XR, as well as for iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and SE second and third generations. To update, you need to go to the iPhone settings, select General, then Software Update, download and install the update, which takes about 1.07 GB.
This version does not introduce new features, but Apple has fixed over a dozen issues, including in WebKit, which affects the Safari browser. User feedback on Reddit indicates positive changes: "After ten months of iOS 18, it finally looks complete."
Regarding iOS 26, users can already download the public beta version. This update includes a new "Liquid Glass" design that provides a new transparent look to the home and block screens. Among the new features are spam filtering in notifications, the ability to live translate during conversations, and new capabilities for group chats, such as creating polls.
The iOS 26 update will be available for all iPhone models released in 2019 and later, but not for iPhone XS, XS Plus, and XR. The final version of iOS 26 is expected in early 2025, following the announcement of new iPhone models.
