President of the USA Donald Trump announced that the country will impose a 15% tariff on imports from South Korea as part of a new trade agreement. He reported this on the Truth Social platform on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
The agreement stipulates that South Korea will invest $350 billion in projects in the USA, which will be selected by Trump. Of this amount, $150 billion will be allocated for partnerships in construction. Trump also stated that South Korea will purchase $100 billion of liquefied natural gas and other energy products.
The President of South Korea Lee Jae-myung noted that the agreement will improve the position of South Korea in the global arena. He plans to visit the White House in the next two weeks for a meeting with Trump.
As part of the agreement, it is expected that South Korea will open its markets to American goods, such as automobiles and agricultural products, without import tariffs.
