Iga Swiatek Continues to Win in Montreal After Wimbledon

In Montreal, Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek easily advanced to the third round of the National Bank Open, defeating Chinese tennis player Guo Hanyu with a score of 6-3, 6-1 in the middle of the match.
This match marked the first for Swiatek after her victory over Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon final, where she won with a score of 6-0, 6-0. She quickly built a 4-0 lead, extending her winning streak to 24 matches.
"I believe that today I played a really solid match," said Swiatek. "Playing the first match on hard court after a long break is always challenging, so I’m glad that I focused on myself, adapted to the conditions, and played well."
On Friday, the second seed will meet the winner of the match between Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia and Evgeniya Lis from Germany.
American player Jessica Pegula also advanced, defeating Maria Sakkari from Greece with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
Sixth seed Madison Keys from the USA defeated German Laura Siegemund 6-2, 6-1, while former world number one Naomi Osaka from Japan managed to defeat Ludmila Samsonova from Russia with a score of 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3.
