Father Denies Killing Daughter, Who Was Allegedly Abducted

45-year-old Luciano Frattalin from Montreal stated on July 30, 2025, about his innocence in the murder of his 9-year-old daughter Melina Frattalin. He was accused of murder and concealing the body.
Frattalin reported the disappearance of his daughter on July 19, claiming she was abducted by two men in a white van during vacation in New York. After this, an Amber Alert was issued and a multi-agency search was initiated.
However, after evidence of negligence in his testimonies was found, police concluded that the abduction did not occur, and Frattalin was arrested. The body of Melina was found on July 20 in a nearby pond near Ticonderoga. According to preliminary results, the girl died from drowning.
Frattalin and his daughter arrived in the USA on July 11. They were on vacation, starting from Connecticut and New York. Melina lived with her mother in Montreal, and the parents had been separated since 2019.
The court upheld the decision to hold Frattalin without bail, and the next hearing is scheduled for September 19. The trial is set to begin in January 2026.
