Comedy CentralThe premiere of the animated show South Park was a great success, attracting 5.9 million viewers on Comedy Central and streaming platform Paramount+. This is the highest rating since 1999, partly due to the episode, which harshly features Donald Trump.
In the episode titled "Prophecy on the Hill," Trump is depicted in a bed with the Devil, exercising his power to "arrest and sue his enemies." This episode aired shortly after the announcement of the evil of Paramount and Skydance, which, according to the creators of the show Trey Parker and Matt Stone, led to arrests at the premiere.
The creators of the show further described the evil, calling it a "chaos." They expressed hope that the new episodes would still show the world.
The White House also reacted to the episode, stating that South Park has not been relevant for over 20 years and needs to regain attention without being offensive. Trump himself responded to the satire, noting that high ratings might mean something is wrong.
The premiere episode received enormous popularity on social media, becoming the "most social episode" of South Park in its entire history.
