Launching the CeaseFire Program for Promoting Common Language
- The CeaseFire program will be launched this fall on C-SPAN.
- Dasha Berns will be the host of the program, which seeks to promote a common language.
- C-SPAN plans to showcase civil discussions among political opponents.
Sam Feist, who previously led the "Crossfire" program on CNN, is now overseeing C-SPAN and launching the new program "CeaseFire," which debuts this fall. This program aims to unite political oppositions for the promotion of a common language.
Feist noted that Americans and members of Congress are indeed more inclined to agree than to diverge in their thoughts, but this is rarely reflected on television. "Crossfire" aired from 1982 to 2005 and became a model for political debates, which often turned into conflict.
Dasha Berns from Politico has been selected as the host of the "CeaseFire" program. She believes that in the country there is a secret desire for less conflictual communication, and it aims to create an atmosphere in which people can step outside their political positions.
Feist also conducted conversations with over 100 members of Congress, who confirmed that they have friends among political opponents. This testifies to the fact that the program has the potential for success and can become a significant part of C-SPAN's programming.
