This is reported by The Yomiuri Shimbun, Marca.
On July 31, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio – the home of Japanese baseball player Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers, became a target for an attempted break-in. During the incident, Yamamoto was not home, as he was with his team in Cincinnati.
According to information from American media and the Los Angeles police, calls to 911 were made shortly after 5 PM. The man broke in through the back door, entered the premises, and smashed the glass doors on the back side of the building. Officers quickly arrived on the scene, and the criminal fled, not entering the interior.
This incident highlights a troubling trend that is being observed among professional athletes, who become victims of break-ins when they are not home. Similar situations have already occurred with other athletes, such as Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Ketel Marte, whose valuables were stolen.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) previously warned about criminal groups that specialize in targeting athletes, utilizing information about their game schedules. Some suspects have already been arrested, while the investigation continues.
Currently, Yamamoto remains with his team, hoping to overcome this unfortunate incident. The Dodgers have 63 wins and 45 losses this season, occupying first place in the National League West.
