The administration of Donald Trump has imposed new sanctions against the Brazilian Supreme Court, which is reviewing the case of former president Jair Bolsonaro, and also introduced significant tariffs on imports from Brazil. These actions are a response to accusations from Brazilian President Lula that Trump is attempting to interfere in the country’s internal affairs.

Trump justified the introduction of a 50% tariff on Brazilian imports with political motives, considering that this is part of the "political maneuvering" against Bolsonaro, who is suspected of trying to overturn the results of the 2022 elections. In addition to Brazil, the US also imposed a 25% tariff on India and a 15% tariff on South Korea.
