Twenty-five individuals on board a Delta Air Lines flight, which was traveling from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam, were hospitalized after the aircraft experienced significant turbulence mid-flight, the airline reported.
Flight DL56, which had 275 passengers and 13 crew members, made an emergency landing at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The Airbus A330-900 landed safely at approximately 19:45 local time.
Medical personnel met the flight upon arrival to assess the condition of the passengers and crew. Twenty-five individuals were transported to local hospitals for further observation and treatment.
Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport confirmed that emergency services and quick assistance were provided to passengers on board. In a statement, Delta noted that "safety is our top priority," and the support team is working with the affected individuals to address their needs.
The aircraft, which reported turbulence, has a maximum capacity of 465 persons, according to information from Airbus.
