China is examining the security issues of Nvidia H20 chips
- China has summoned Nvidia for discussions regarding the security issues of H20 chips.
- The Chinese government is demanding documentation on the risks associated with the chips.
- Nvidia is facing new trade challenges in China.
This was reported by NBC News, Asharq Al-Awsat.
Chinese internet outlets have summoned Nvidia representatives to discuss serious security issues related to its H20 artificial intelligence chips. These chips, developed for export to China, have become the subject of discussions due to concerns about potential risks and backdoor vulnerabilities.
Earlier this month, Nvidia received a notice from Washington regarding the suspension of H20 exports to China, but now the company must provide documentation that confirms the security of its chips. The Chinese cyber administration has stated that there are serious concerns regarding technological backdoors and vulnerabilities that could be realized in Nvidia's chips.
This issue arises against the backdrop of increasing trade tensions between the USA and China, where American lawmakers are pushing for mandatory backdoor functions for exported chips. During his visit to Beijing, Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang confirmed that the company continues to work with local customers.
Nvidia has become the first company whose market value surpassed $4 trillion, but it now faces new challenges in China, where competition with local tech firms is increasing.
