76-Year-Old Man Arrested on Suspicion of Abusing Children

Leicestershire police have arrested a 76-year-old man on suspicion of abusing children at a summer camp. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon on Canal Lane in Staterne, when police received reports that children were feeling unwell.

At the scene, a triage center was organized with the participation of the East Midlands Ambulance Service in a nearby village hall to assess the condition of the children. As a result, all the children were taken to the hospital for observation, but they have all already been discharged, and their parents have been informed.

The man was arrested on suspicion of committing an offense against children. He remains under police custody. Detective Inspector Neil Holden stated that police understand the concern of parents and the community, and added that to ensure the safety of the children, specialized resources have been engaged.

The police also reported that they reached out to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding the police's initial response to the incident.
