Conor McGregor loses appeal in case of sexual assault

Conor McGregor lost his attempt to challenge a ruling requiring him to pay compensation to the woman who accused him of sexual assault. The Irish appeals court fully rejected his appeal.
The plaintiff, Nikita Hend, asserts that the sportsman sexually assaulted her on December 9, 2018. In the last year, the court ordered McGregor to pay her nearly €250,000 (around £216,000) in damages.
36-year-old McGregor denies the allegations, asserting that the sex with Hend was "completely consensual." He also dismissed the accusations as being motivated by financial gain.
During the appeal, McGregor's lawyers stated that his statements during police interrogations were not intended to be presented as evidence. The lawyer also claimed that the framing of the issues in "the document in question" for the appeal was supposed to be different.
However, the judges dismissed all evidence, stating that the issue of the attack was clear for the appeal and did not require further clarification. The appeals court also addressed the issue of McGregor's refusal of new evidence that could have supported his position.
