Saul Niguez Blames Joao Felix for Failure Due to Lack of Work Ethic

  • Saul Niguez believes that Joao Felix did not achieve success due to a lack of work ethic.
  • Al-Nassr signed Joao Felix for two years, but he is currently not in form.
  • Atletico Madrid is actively investing in new players to compete for titles.

This is reported by ESPN, L'Équipe.

Saul Niguez expressed the opinion that the lack of work ethic was the reason for the failure of his former teammate at Atletico Madrid, Joao Felix, in previous clubs. He noted: "It wouldn't be good if you're not working hard, that's crucial."

Saul joined Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, while Joao signed a contract with the club last week. Both players played together at Atletico, where Joao Felix joined the team with a record transfer fee of 127 million euros in 2019.

After unsuccessful attempts to establish himself at Atletico, Joao Felix moved to Chelsea, and then on loan to Barcelona, eventually signing a contract with the club in 2024. After six months, he returned to Milan on loan before signing with Al-Nassr.

Saul emphasized that many of his teammates tried to help Joao, but he did not show the desire. "Football is a team sport," said Niguez.

Al-Nassr coach Jorge Jesus, who previously worked with Joao at Benfica, admitted that the forward is not yet ready for full training. "Today we saw his first training match, he is definitely not in form," said Jesus.

Saul also commented on Atletico's activity in the transfer market, noting that the club spent 200 million euros on signings, so now there is no excuse for failure in the title race.
